Special Event Guests

Mini-Nats organizers are proud to host the following legends of motorsports. These special guests will be with us throughout the weekend. You may spot them signing one of their many books, on track, on a parade lap or at the banquet.

The Original Venice Crew The Original Venice Crew Peter Brock, Jim Marietta, Ted Sutton, Duane Carling, designer, mechanics and fabricators, who built the first Shelby Mustang GT350 Competition Model, recreate this Mustang now known as the GT350R. The project began the first day of SEMA in 2014 and went on for 101 days. Build the car as close to how it was done in 65 save and except for safety items and design features Brock had on his drawing board but did not have the time or budget to pursue in 65.
Peter Brock Peter Brock Automotive designer, author and photojournalist. In 1965 Brock became Carroll Shelby’s first paid employee running his high performance driving school. If you’re a Shelby enthusiast he’s best known for designing the Cobra Daytona Coupe. If you’re a Datsun fanatic, he’s best known for BRE (Brock Racing Enterprises). If you’re a Corvette guy, he’s best known for the Corvette Sting Ray.
Allen Grant Allen Grant Started as a mechanic’s helper/welder later landing a deal to drive a Cobra from Coventry Motor Cars of Walnut Creek. Today we recognize his car in photos by the distinctive yellow paint scheme designed by his then-roommate, George Lucas. With top finishes at Santa Barbara, Candlestick Park, Riverside and Laguna Seca, Shelby was convinced to hire Allen on as a Team driver.

Open Track

Experience the thrill of driving your high-performance car on the racetrack. We provide an onsite ambulance, tow truck, and professional corner workers. Passing permitted only in designated areas, with more liberal rules for the experienced groups. Driver conduct is closely monitored by our track stewards to ensure an enjoyable time for everyone. Run groups of 35 cars each:

  • Yellow (Novice)
  • Red (Intermediate)
  • Green (Advanced)
  • Blue (Expert with prepared race car)

ALL makes and models welcome (except open-wheel). NorCal SAAC membership not required. Open Track drivers must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license. Passengers 18 years and older are allowed in some sessions.

Friday Carshow

It’s a tradition at Mini-Nats to have a carshow. The main focus is to gather together a great collection of cars, daily drivers and race cars all in the spirit of sharing and enjoying.

Carshow parking will be in the paddock behind the grandstands on Friday morning. Details will be provided with your confirmation email. Enter your car information in the carshow section of the registration page.

Friday Drag Racing

When the track sessions conclude on Friday afternoon, the track will be reconfigure for drag racing. The Christmas tree will appear and the speed traps will be activated. Then we line up the cars and begin. Join us and size up the competition and see how you fair. Details will be provided with your confirmation email. Enter your car information in the car show section of the registration page.

Saturday Tour

Join the Saturday afternoon drive through scenic wine country. Departs from Sonoma Racetrack at 1:30p and will take approximately 2.5 hours, with an ice cream in St Helena, concluding late afternoon with enough time to get to the evening banquet.

Parade Laps

On Friday and Saturday we will conduct a parade lap session during the lunchtime break. This is a chance to experience Sonoma Raceway at low speeds in your daily driver. The perfect opportunity to have friends and family get a glimpse of what it looks like from the driver’s perspective. Participants must adhere to all California Street Regulations (seat belts, etc.).
