SAAC National Convention
SAAC has been holding a National Convention every summer since 1976. These are not cookie-cutter events that use the same hotel and same race track every year. Each of our conventions is a little different and they rotate around the country.
A typical convention, spread over three days and nights, includes a judged concours, a popular vote car show, open track driving, a parts swap, a vintage race, evening programs, a sit-down dinner and panels of guest speakers made up of former Shelby team drivers, engineers, designers, fabricators and race mechanics.
As many as 3,000 people have attended past conventions bringing over 1,000 cars. Cobras and Shelbys, to be sure, occupy the center stage but all types of Ford-powered performance cars are welcomed: Tigers, Panteras, Boss Mustangs, new Ford GTs, Cobra, Shelby and Ford GT40 replicas, Falcons, Galaxies and Mustangs of every year and description all have followings. Conventions are open to all Cobra and Shelby enthusiasts, not only club members. SAAC’s annual summer get-togethers are the envy of other clubs.
Something For Everyone
As you read this, we are still working to put all of the pieces of the convention puzzle together. Eventually it will all come together by August. We’re going to give you a peek. 50th Anniversary 1968 GT350 / GT500
2018 is the 50th birthday of the 1968 Shelby and it should not pass unnoticed. Several 1968 Shelby activities are planned, including a group photo and a parade lap session with all 1968s grouped together.
All 1968 Shelbys in attendance will receive special status, as the Featured Anniversary Year.

It should go without saying—but we’ll say it anyway—if there was ever a convention to bring your 1968 Shelby to, this is the one. And we’d like to see them all: works-in-progress and daily drivers as well as low-mileage originals and concours jewels.
